Shiranui moved to answer the door and let Klaus inside. He made sure that his random roommate was gone for now. Someone he hadn't really interacted with save in passing. Surprisingly, Shiranui kept the cabin pretty neat. It helped not having many personal items, but he liked to keep his living space clean and organized.
"Thanks for stopping by," he greated, ushering Klaus inside and allowing him to sit where ever he wanted to. At least he knew that he handled contacting Klaus correctly, so that was good. "It's awkward enough asking for advice. I tend to keep to myself and solve my own problems."
Klaus steps inside, looking around the room before humming thoughtfully. Well, it's not as messy as his room is. Klaus wonders just how many knives will be hidden in the room now that Nobunaga's moved in. Probably a lot.
"Yeah. No problem, buddy." He tilts his head slightly. "So what happened that needs advice? And why do you trust me with it?"
"From the people I've met you appeared to be more calm and open minded. You also seem to know most people here," Shiranui explained after some thought. "And people seem to trust you alot from what I've witnessed."
He gave a wary sigh trying to figure out how to explain it.
"I broke my own set of principles that I set for myself."
Klaus considers most of what’s been said to them. “Um. Yeah. Okay?” There’s a brief pause and Klaus shrugs. “Well, they’re also all really traumatized, so that’s not a reflection on me. Probably. I didn’t traumatize them!” Just in case it needs to be said.
But okay. He needs help. Why trust him? A mystery, but it’s fine. Demons or something.
“Oh. What principles are those?” And how are they supposed to help with that?
"But you tend to listen and not judge right away." Shiranui calmly explained.
"I'm someone that doesn't openly demand or feel they can take what they want with out permission. My one buddy felt he was above that and spent a long time trying to kidnap a young woman who refused his interest in her.
The expression he had when she turned him down was spectacular. He thought he could just take her and force her to be his wife...instead of getting to know her."
Shiranui explained as he gave it some thought. He wanted some kind of context to why it was important.
"I just did that to a degree with someone here. I didn't even know their name. Things started off rocky, but we managed to smooth it out. I thought we were good enough to spar. I sensed she would be an equal match. I don't usually find someone that can match my skill level.
She was...but I got lost in the adreline rush and made a pass at her by kissing her. I'm surprised I didn't get ripped to shreds from it even after I apologized.
She accepted the apology but there's still tension. And I feel that no matter what I do...I make things worse."
Shiranui could feel his face turn red as he admitted to what he had done. The shame and guilt was still eating at him.
"At home...When I attended the tea houses, I used to kick out guys who made such passes on the geisha and their miyuko. Now I just contradicted myself."
Okay. That’s fair. Klaus will squash his bad vibes and self deprecation for the moment and focus on this instead.
As he listens, there’s a nod. Sounds like the oni kidnappings that Nobunaga is always going on about. But like not the lighthearted fun that it is when Nobunaga throws them over his shoulder and pretends to kidnap them.
“Ah. I see.” Klaus is trying to wrack their brains a little to figure it out. Who is this mysterious person? “Well, at least you know it was a bad thing.” He sighs. “Nobunaga’s done sort of the same thing to our friend.” Friends, really. But at least one of them was trying to stop someone from hurting themselves. “Depending on who they are, it’s just probably going to take time. I mean, you said you apologized, right? So…that’s a big step.” But from here? It depended on the person.
“A lot of the how to proceed depends on the person. But…I also think part of it may be time and space.”
"It's Valdis. She's already wary of me because I'm an oni. She made that clear. I could sense the tension as soon as I walked into the room. I had tried to explain that I wasn't a bad person like people assume because I'm an oni. And I screwed that up. I knew she wasn't human also, but never demanded to know what she was. I don't care." Shiranui carefully explained.
"She's one hell of a fighter. The first person I've fought agianst in a long time that wasn't human. I think no matter what I'm doing there's always going to be a strike against me because of who I am. Even though it's clear she's trying not to hold on to that fact."
Valdis again. “She has a problem with you being an oni?” Have they talked about this before? Klaus can’t remember having this discussion. Then again, lots of things have happened.
There’s a sigh. “People make mistakes. It’s just that Valdis tends to deal with a lot of mistakes from a lot of people. And she’s an empath on top of everything, so she can feel everything, too.” Which should mean she felt the sincerity of the apology as long as it was there.
“She can move past a lot of bullshit. She’s done it for Nobunaga. I can talk to her if you want me to? Or try to casually see if there’s anything I can do to help with it.”
"I'm not sure if talking to her would help. It would mean now that others are aware of what happened. And I'm not sure how she would feel about that. I suppose that's why she didn't rip me to shreds....which I think would have been better."
Shiranui stated as he ran a hand through his hair, something he did when nervous.
"I know I can't do anything about her disliking oni. Obviously something happened in the past to cause that. And if I'm honest most oni aren't really nice people. I don't fit in with my people and I don't fit in with the humans because I'm so different. I figured giving her space would help...but as I said earlier I think I just still screw things up some how when I do interact with her even if it's not much."
Klaus pauses. "Do you want a hug? I feel like you need a hug." But they also won't hug him if he seems uncomfortable with it. There's a lot of people who definitely seem to be uncomfortable with touching.
"I'd say you should talk to her about books and stuff, but...uh...I guess that might not work. Maybe talk to her about neutral subjects instead?"
The question caught Shiranui off guard and he wasn't sure how to react to it. When was the last time someone had hugged him? It had been so long. Ususually Takasugi just placed a hand on his shoulder. Harada had done the same. He finally gave a nod agreeing to the hug. He was glad no one was around to see this.
Klaus gives him a small smile before coming over to give him a hug. "I'm not saying it's not going to be a pain in the ass, but...but I dunno. I think you'll figure something out to make it better."
Hesitantly, Shiranui allowed himself to lean into the hug. Admittedly it felt nice. He was used to always having to keep a wall up and not appear weak.
For the moment Shiranui didn't have to put up a show. He was grateful for it. He knew it wouldn't be used against him.

He didn't realize how much the adjusting to the ship was taking a toll on him. Trying to get used to the new way of things getting used to people interacting with him and seeing him as an individual. It was nice being able to rely on someone else. After a moment, Shiranui pulled away blushing slightly.
"Thanks...I'll figure it out and get used to everything here. It's a lot for an outdated guy like me to take in." Shiranui stated.
Klaus gives him a big smile. They notice the blush, but decide against mentioning it because...there's really no point in making them more awkward. Unlike when Nobunaga does it and it's very important to Klaus to tease him about it.
"Ehh. We're all outdated to someone, right? Like, there are definitely people from the future here and I'm sure me and my 2019 knowledge is infantile to them." He pats his shoulder. "Just like...be kind to yourself and mindful of those moments where you might get carried away again? And Valdis will come around. Just give her time and think, 'what would Nobunaga do' and then do the opposite of that."
"Sounds like everyone uses Nobo as an example of what not to do. He really has no sense of boundaries and what's appropriate," Shiranui stated smirking a bit. He gave a nod in regards toward Valdis.
He decided it was best to move to a different topic wanting to end things on a more lighter note. "Speaking of outdated...Where does one get new clothes? I could use some new clothing that's not torn and ragged from fighting."
Klaus laughs softly. “I love him to death, but sometimes he’s stupid. He’s figuring things out.” He looks around almost as if he’s looking to see if anyone is there listening even though he’s knows they aren’t. “The secret is to tell him that only the sexiest, scariest people do something you want him to do and that he’ll be corrupted by purity if you don’t want him to do something else.”
This is just a random knowledge Klaus has. “But also be firm with him about boundaries. He’ll listen. If you need to, use me as a method of Demon King taming. Also don’t tell everyone my secrets.”
There’s a sort of brightness as clothing is mentioned. “Tommy Bahama is really the clothing place to go to! Do you mind colors?”
Klaus gives him a look and pats his shoulder, "Ooooooh, buddy. Do I have bad news for you." They squint, trying to think of the clothes. "Well, we're going to have our work cut out for us, then. Cause....wow. Okay."
Klaus looks at him quietly for a moment before gesturing for him to follow. "Are you super worried about wearing specifically clothes in the men's section or? Cause there's some nice flowy pants in the women's section. And really...they're only gendered because people are...well...weirdly obsessed with gendered things."
A beat. "But there's some things you could make into other things if you wanted!"
